Yes. We will ensure you stairs are built to comply with the NZ Building Code of Compliance and the D1 Access Code.

What is the most suitable timber to use for my staircase?

This depends on many factors. The main point to consider is how you wish to finish you staircase. If you are going to carpet or tile your stair, pine stringers and triboard treads and risers is a very practical option. If you wish to polish your stair, you have a huge range of timbers to choose from. If you have other timber in your house, you can choose it to match. Our specialists can help you narrow down your choices.

How much does a stair cost?

This varies a lot depending on the size of the staircase and material used.

Can you supply handrail and balustrades only?

Yes we can, please refer to the balustrade or handrails page for your different options.

Can I get a quote over the phone?

Yes you can. Although we do prefer to give written quotes over the email, we can give an estimate over the phone. Plans can be faxed, emailed or posted to our office for us to give an accurate costing.

So the phone/email estimate is within my budget, what happens next?

Once you have confirmed you would like to go ahead, we arrange a time to come onsite (depending on location) and measure the space in which the stairs are to go. After calling onsite we will confirm our final written quote is still accurate.

Will you come to site and measure our stairwell before you make the stairs?

Yes, depending on the location, one of our team can come onsite to measure your staircase if the builder is not confident in supplying us with the measurements.

When can my staircase be measured?

Your staircase can be measured as soon as the upper floor framing is completed or the 2nd floor is down.

Once ordered, how long does it take before the stairs are ready?

We usually work on a lead time of 3-4 weeks, depending on our current workload. This may be longer around public holidays.

At what stage do my stairs go in?

Your staircase is usually installed after the building is closed in, and can be installed before or after the stairwell is lined. Most commonly installed after the stairwell is lined.

Do you install your stairs?

Usually builders onsite install the stairs, but our team can install your stairs for a fee.

What if the stairs don't fit?

We will ensure all staircases supplied by us will fit into the stairwell we have measured. Please refer to our guarantee.

Will the stairs squeak?

If stairs are manufactured correctly they won't squeak, and all Top FlyteTM stairs come with a warranty to give you peace of mind. Our stairs are built using wedges and glue blocks, which are then screwed into place. The wedges hold the treads and risers tight into the housings and the glue blocks prevent movement between the treads and risers. This stops the squeaks occurring.
